Copycats

I've come across a few curious 4" x 3" (or slightly larger) books of the same titles that LLL/Robert K Haas sold, with many similar details. With over 30 million Little Leather Library books sold, it's no suprise other publishers have taken notice. While miniature books was not at all something new when Little Leather Library began producing them, these publishers definitely took after LLL's specific dimensions, titles, and other aspects, perhaps by copying or by obtaining the very same plates that LLL used.

The Classics Publishing Co., Philadelphia

Here are a few black imitation leather books I found to be of the same size, titles, and even page numbers as the Little Leather Library titles. The similarities are striking. I'm curious if these ARE actually published by the Little Leather Library Co. just going by a different name. The covers of these are rather dull, looking like some small pocket journal you might find at an office store for 99 cents. If you look closely at certain angles though, you can barely see the title names printed onto the covers in black ink. Each features a title list in the back with all of the same titles that the Little Leather Library produced. I haven't been able to find any information about this publisher.
The Goldsmith Publishing Co., Cleveland, Ohio

Here is another book I found in red imitation leather with an advertisement in the back featuring many of the same titles as the Little Leather Library's titles, but with some different ones as well. The cloth cover is more flimsy and thin. Each page has "Little Leather Classics" written at the top.
Shrewesbury Publishing Company, Chicago-Toronto

This publisher also published a large amount of titles that are the same as LLL. The page counts and all other aspects of the printings are exactly the same, aside from different covers and more padding around the edges making these slightly larger. There is a hardcover white/gray version and a leatherette red version as well, the hardcover ones being about a quarter inch bigger.
